Atlantis Playmakers' Teen Troupe Performance Program is an opportunity for high school students to train and perform with a professional theater company. Each program consists of a combination of workshops and production rehearsals. Workshops are show specific and support the work students will be performing. Each production is part of the Atlantis Playmakers main stage season.
The 2008 summer production will be a world premiere - A Midsummer Day's Dream, written by Kimberly Davis Basso. A comedy based on Shakespeare's similarly titled play, A Midsummer Day's Dream incorporates acting, comedy, improvisation, dance, singing and music. Students will rehearse three afternoons/evenings per week, and perform as part of the Short Attention Span PlayFEST. If it is ready, the Teen Troupe will be performing in our brand new theater! Depending on actor availability, the production may also travel to the New England Fringe Festival this fall.
Rehearsals are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3pm to 9pm, with a break for dinner (on campus). Rehearsals begin July 7 and continue until July 23. Performances are currently scheduled for July 24, 25, and 26. Rehersals are scheduled at the Bennett Library and Cultural Center in Billerica Center, with performance location TBA. There is a $75 participation fee (scholarships are available) and students need to complete the application below.
